Why do I photograph weddings? Simple. I believe in love.
Q: What should I look for in a wedding photographer?
A: Style, chemistry, and trust
STYLE: Do her images speak to you? captivate you? I received a thank you card after a wedding I had photographed and it read, “From the first moment I saw your website, I spent hours pouring over every photo and I fell in love with your work. I imagined what my wedding would look like through your lens. It was then that I knew you had to be my photographer. I still get teary looking at the beautiful images that you’ve captured for us and cannot thank you enough.” After the big day is over, the three things you’ll have to remember it by will be your best-friend-for-life, ring, and photographs.
CHEMISTRY & TRUST: Plain and simple, do you like your photographer as a human being? Would you hang out with them? If I’m going to be stuck with someone for what is supposed to be the happiest day of my life, she better be awesome. She better be fun and an overall amazing person. (These are the only people that are coming to my wedding, btw. :D) In all seriousness, I urge you to get a feel for your photographer’s personality and how they carry themselves. There’s an immense amount of trust in this relationship. Examples of “trust” questions you may have:
- What are my ninja skills like? (Super important! Wedding photographers should be -relatively- unobtrusive.)
- Am I going to be able to gracefully handle corralling your family for your family portraits?
- Do I promise to have an arsenal of jokes and pose ideas/directions to make you feel comfortable in front of the camera? (Answer: yes)

Q: What is the investment I can expect to make?
A: Wedding collections range from 3.5 – 6k USD. FYI – the contract requires that you feed me cake.
Q: Are you serious about the cake-thing?
A: Yup. If you’re doing something fun like cupcakes, fondue or other dessert, I’m cool with that too.
Q: What if we aren’t serving dessert?
A: That’s crazy talk. Don’t be ridiculous! :)
Q: Is there a type of cake you don’t like?
A: Not really. However, if I had to pick a least favorite, it’d be carrot cake. I think there’s something weird with vegetables in dessert…

Q: What do your photography collections include?
A: The best. :) All wedding collections include:
- Me! - I’m not a gigantic studio. You’ll get me. Associate photographers are wonderful, but they aren’t replicas of talent and personality.
- Second photographer - Trustworthy and talented second photographers that I call my friends and colleagues. Because we frequently work together, they understand me, the way I work and what I expect.
- Signature Albums - After your wedding, you’ll select your top favorite images and I’ll custom design a wedding album. We’ll chat about customization options and album spread revisions. After your design is finalized, your album is will be handmade with lots of TLC and shipped in 4-6 weeks.
- Online gallery - View images from the big day, purchase prints and share with friends and family.
- Archival USB of wedding images - USB of high resolution images will be mailed to you with your album along with suggestions for quality printing.
Q: Do you do wedding videography?
A: YES! I own a wedding film company called Promessa Films - HD, cinematic, absolutely beautifully crafted films. My lead filmmaker, Bryson, is amazing. You won’t be disappointed. :)

Q: Do you offer other print products?
A: Absolutely -
- Additional photo session: engagement session, rehearsal dinner coverage, boudoir sessions, bridal session, trash-the-dress, etc.
- Additional albums: guestbooks, parent/family albums (mini versions of your Signature album)
- Wall art: canvas wraps, professional lab prints
- Other: Custom save the date and thank you cards
Q: What is required to book my date?
A: A non-refundable retainer (50% of collection) and your signature on the wedding e-contract will have your date sharpie-d into my calendar. Feel free to drop me a line with your questions at nicole@nicolechanphotography.com :)
Q: Can you hold my wedding date?
A: Unfortunately not. I only have sharpies, not pencils. I try to be as fair as possible. I do not hold dates without a retainer and a signed e-contract. All bookings come in a first come / first served basis.
Q: Where are you based out of? Do you travel?
A: I live in Boston, MA but have traveled all over the US and Caribbean for weddings. If you stick me on a plane and give me a bed+car rental, I’m yours!
